Officer Frank Arthur Pike, 50, with twelve years of service, was directing traffic at First Avenue North and Fourth Street North during church services on May 7, 1933. A motorist's foot slipped from the brake to the accelerator, striking the officer. Pike was taken to Mound Park Hospital, where he remained for about two weeks before succumbing to his injuries on May 19, 1933.
Officer Pike was the fifth St. Petersburg police officer killed in the line of duty. He is survived by his wife, Patience, and his daughter, Edna.
